Ahhh Christman, finally we all made it. I had my doubts at one time but indeed, we made it, lived it and now to wait another year for another one haha.
We finally got the tree up, with no ornaments but kids didnt care. No angel or star or anything on top, kids didnt care. No one came to visit them for Christmas and again...kids did not care haha. I loved it
The school ended up giving them each like 2 toys each, anthony and I got them 2 toys each and a few days after Christmas their aunt and grandmother sent them some McDonalds gift money and you would think they won the lottery.
Their main toy was a Wii that a wonderful online friend bought for them and let me pay him over time. It didnt arrive on time but they had no idea it was coming. Well AJ did but the 3 T's still have no idea. I didnt want them to be totally upset over it if something happened as thats all they have wanted for a year now. Hopefully it will be here this week or next and now I am thinking of keeping it for their birthdays. Since its always in January, no one ever comes to see them or to their parties as the weather is so bad.
Anyway, the funniest part was Terry, who is 2 and a half now. The kids got to open one gift until anthony got off work. When Terry woke up, he was given one gift and he was quite happy with it. We didnt allow him to go downstairs as we didnt want him to see the rest. Unbeknown st to us, Taylor had brought his gifts upstairs and put on his bed.
We were in my room listening to music, talking and doing an SJ show when we heard all this paper out of the boys room. I said jokingly that is sounds as if Terry has found another Christmas gift. It turns out he actually had ripped up Taylors gift haha. Poor thing just didnt understand. So while Tyler distracted him and while Taylor was downstairs, I rewrapped the gift
This was a much welcome comedy relief after AJs performance that morning. The gift he opened was a clock radio, with a cd player and when he opened it he said "this is disgusting" and just tossed the gift aside. I felt myself welling up to cry and then heard myself shouting at hime. "You ungrateful bastard, I just cant believe you. Your daddy works hard every day, long hours, you do nothing yet he still tries to find you a gift you can use and its VERY nice, nicer than anything we have. Blah, blah blah"
Now I felt myself welling up with tears as I was sounding like my birth mother. You know, I always talk to people, watch tv about people having a hard time, especially with a parent being alcoholic, abusive or something then they turn out the same way. I always thought that if you saw that and lived it, its the last thing you would do. Now I know that the reason we repeat the past is thats all we know. Until you know of a better way, learn a better way and actually put the physical and mental effort into it to change, you can just do no better. I told AJ I would take the clock and for him to go into his room
This seems to have been the beginning of what felt like the end. The gifts were just proving too much for 8 year old Taylor. He begged and pleaded to open another gift until finally he cried himself to sleep. Tyler, being the 15 year old 9 year old that he is, just accepted the fact that he could do nothing until anthony got home and amused himself with Terrys blocks with me
Finally , after what seemed an eternity, Anthony got home. They boys opened their gifts and everyone was quite happy. Even AJ finally was a little happy after opening his mp3 player. Although its the cheapest they come, I think Anthony found them in a 2cents store, it was what he had wanted for more then 2 or 3 years
The best gift was a gag gift I made for AJ. Well, part of it was a gift. The school had given us a gift card and we gave it to him. I put it on the bottom of a huge box and put things on top of it. Like a comforter that said "put me in the wash on cold and gentle cycle" haha. After digging through things like this, he would then get to the envelope with his gift card (Which is now on my desk as he lost it and doesnt know it yet)
We planned on a bar b que and all sorts of things but since I slept about 3 hours in the past 2 days and anthony slept about 6, we both ended up falling asleep about 5p. I got no idea what the kids did for dinner but by the time I woke up it was 9p haha. Terry woke me up saying "Mommy I want more Christmas"
It was really a great Christmas after all. I am so happy the kids were happy. We were more worried and more stressed then they were and all for no reason hehe. Now, what will we do for their birthdays a month from now? hahaha
